Florida’s Space Coast and Treasure Coast are situated along the central part of Florida’s east coast. The Space Coast is so named because it’s home to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Treasure Coast got its name in the 1960s, after the discovery of treasure from a Spanish treasure fleet that was devastated by a hurricane in 1715. Melbourne and Port St. Lucie are the most populated cities along the Space Coast and Treasure Coast, respectively.
